A Vietnam Veteran is an individual who served "In-country" (on the soil of Vietnam) or stationed on ships or in the air in the theatre of war (off shore in the South China Sea, Combat or Strike Zones). A Combat Veteran is someone who had been under enemy fire while engaged in action against the enemy.
2.)The brave Allies that helped the U.S. "In-country".
I believe that those who served with the Red Cross, U.S.O., U.N. personnel, Religious Organizations, News reporters & photographers, Civilian personnel such as plant & civil engineers and others are considered Vietnam In-Country Support Veterans.
A Vietnam Era Veteran is an individual who served in the armed forces that did not go to Vietnam.My father would be considered a Vietnam Era Veteran.He was a twenty-two year carrier soldier retired in 1966.He was a WWII and Korea Veteran. He had two sons that are decorated Nam Vets.
