Col. Walter Fred Caldwell, USAF (Retired), age 73, of San Antonio, died Monday, July 28, 2003. Col. "Fred" Caldwell grew up in Bogalusa, LA and attended Louisana State University. As a fighter pilot in the USAF, he flew over 200 missions in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry. He retired from the Air Force as Inspector General at Lackland AFB in 1977 and devoted most of his time to caring for his loving wife, Dolores. We will miss you. Survivors: wife of 45 years, Dolores Caldwell; sons, Walter F. Caldwell, Jr. and wife, Beverly, Clear Lake Shores, TX and Roger F. Caldwell and wife, Sonia, Milpitas, CA; daughter, Lucinda Caldwell, Clear Lake Shores, TX; son, Mack A.
