We've just learned that the mysterious individual namedJester COCK(AKA: Cox, Cocke, Cocks, Coxe, Coke, ETC., and sometimes even identified as Cook or Cooke) is identified at Ancestry.com as Jester COCK and is shown as serving in the War of 1812.
This is what was given for COCK, Jester:
BATTALION 3 (WOODFOLK'S) TENNESSEE MILITIA
I've read all the postings in this War of 1812 Genforum which mention William Woodfolk, and have learned that scant information apparently exists about Battalion 3, and that there is no evidence that Woodfolk was part of the Tennessee militia who were with Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans.
Does anyone happen to know where I'd get more info online about the actual service and pension applications for this Jester COCK? Would all this be found only at NARA, or would the State of Tennessee have info about Battalion 3 of Woodfolk's Tennessee Militia?
ANY advice or assistance would be most appreciated.
