First of all, Roger, many thank you for your valuable information. The cemetery was on my list so that is tremendously helpful. According to records at my home town Historical Society - "Certified Service Records" of World War I vets - my great uncle fought at Chateau Thierry, the St. Mihiel Salient and fought 16 days in the Argonne Forest. He was only in France about 7 months but saw a fair amount of combat. His unit was given as Company H, 163rd Infantry, 41st Division. I've learned the 41st was a Depot Division and was not directly involved in fighting. It supplied replacements to the battle. I've also learned different units fought at different times during the battle. My hope is I can at least find out where the 163rd was during the battle. If I could locate where Company H was that would be great but not likely I'm thinking.
