His Navy Service Record should be available from the NARA today. No Navy or Marine Service records were stored there in 1973 when they had a fire. Looks like one of his duty stations was the Naval Air Station in Escambia County Florida. He is listed in the 1920 census, but ignore the "relation" column: "son" and the name" Wayne L" in "parent or spouse" column. Looks like the census taker marked all married men as "Head" and all single men as "son". Elmer just happens to be listed under a married man named Wayne L. Carelton. Has born Michigan with parents born Canada-English. This is in Ancestry.com index, and looking at scanned census page. The link below for the FamilySearch 1920 census transcription has only name Elmer B. Lloyd, son, age 22, b. 1898, Michigan living in Escambia Co FL but no mention of Naval Air Station. By the way both Ancestry and Familysearch have age as 22, but image shows it is 32, comparing it to the other ages written and how other 3 and 2's are written. I can't understand how the transcriber of the index came up with 22 in the first place, if it was 22 then both numbers would be written the same way and they are clearly not.
