I am asking on behalf of a friend, whose grandfather ERNEST HARDING served in France in World War 1.His job was to maintain or service the planes for action.
It was always assumed in the family, that he served in the RAF.
She has tried to find his service records at Kew.But they have informed her, that there is no record of him at all.The only thing they have suggested is to get professional help, in finding him at Kew.But if his records are not there, it does not seem much point to do this?
He served for the length of the war, she has photographs of him by the planes, ready for take-off.
Because of this situation, she is now beginning to doubt he served with the RAF.And starting to think that he served with the Army instead, did they have any involvement in regard of maintenance of planes?
Any help, advice or suggestions would be so very welcome.
