This isn't exactly what you asked for, but I want to pass on a little information on T/5 Kenneth Bross's unit.
The 163rd Infantry Regiment was one of three regiments in the 41st Infantry Division (162nd, 163rd and 186th), plus other elements.
He enlisted way after the division had gone overseas (arrived Australia, 13 May 42), and would have joined it as a replacement.
By entering service in July-44, he would have endured 90 days in basic training, and would have been ready to join a unit.
By my calculations, he would probably have been in basic Aug/Oct-44, then shipped out/over by Nov/Dec-44, which should have landed him for the assault on Zamboagna Mindaneo, 10 Mar 45, and on Sanga Santo, 2 Apr 45, and finally, on Jolo Island, 9 Apr 45.
The division participated in these campaigns:
New Guinea, 24 Jan 43 / 3 Dec 44 Luzon, 15 Dec 44 / 4 Jul 45 Southern Philippines, 27 Feb 45 / 5 Jul 45.
(You can fit him to the pertinent campaign/s by these dates, that is, if you actually know when/where he was at a given time.)
Location at war's end, 15 Aug 45:
Zamboanga Mindanao, Philippine Islands.
The division was inactivated in Japan, 31 Dec 45.
I imagine that he was discharged under the same article the majority of us were released from service, "Convience of the Government".
If you have any dates, and are interested, I will be pleased to provide at least a part of the division's combat experiences to you, either via this site, or a private one. OK ?
