Thanks for the informative response. I have a decent attention span, so a long response is no problem. The more i can learn the better off i am.
I think for now, my morning report interest will probably stick with the unit i know my grandfather was in, the 3429th ORD MAM Co. We might want to take this offline to discuss the 'work' involved if your willing to request some reports for me. if not, i completely understand. Having someone who can help on the inside is worth more than its weight in gold.
I did receive a favorable response from NARA regarding my replacement medal request (a more accurate one to boot). I had written my congressman after not hearing from NARA for the longest time (i realize they can be slow), and he was able to apply some pressure and i got a response and the medals themselves within about a month. but the problem they only entitled a ruptured duck and a WWII victory medal. I think in their haste to please my US-Rep. they did a less than admirable job. about a month after that i got another letter entitling a longer list of replacements, something that almost matches his report of separation to a T. I got that last week, so that is exciting. maybe they will come by christmas, so I can put a shadowbox together for my dad.
anyways, send me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
