First, let me say what a great site this is...thank you to all the "experts".
My father, Charles Francis Mc Grath, born in New York City in 1912 was a WWII vet. In December of 2000 I filled out the necessary 180 form...waited and received in February a form letter stating; no records, may have been burned etc. In the mean time I found that my fathers records were sent in November of 1982 to the archives in Pittsfield, Mass. A lady was able to bring them up on a computer database. I have gone back and forth between the offices in St. Louis and Pittsfield trying to get the records. One office says the other must give permission to release the records...and here I am in the middle with no records.
My question is can anyone help me here? Suggestions of who and where to get the ball moving. I am so very terribly frustrated. Thank you in advance, Ro
