Hi Billie Sue
I see Dave posted an excellent reply. He is good!
To find the families....I worked from the sheet that tells you who they are and where they lived. I went to the SSDI (Social Security Death Index) and checked for the names and if in the same location was listed. If the person had moved over the years it didn't work. Once that list was completed I went to "switchboard" to check for listings.
Then I checked with their local library. Sometimes they will have induction cards on file.
Once I received the IDPF for the only crewman identified and sent back to the states to a cemetery in his home town, I contacted the cemetery for information. In this case they have helped locate his extended family. Now it is up to them if they want to contact me. The funeral home has changed hands but I will contact them. Perhaps nothing will be there but I don't know until I try.
The sister of one sends flowers to the group site in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. The president of Friends of Jefferson Barracks contacted me with the name of the florist. From there we learned of her address and contact was made.
I can go on and on but really do not want to take up space here. Please let me know if I can help further. There was a lot of research going on to locate my brother's two friends that died in separate crashes. I have been in touch with the son of one and waiting to hear from related family on the other.
Regards
Mickey
