Tom,
my uncle was stationed in Alaska during 1942. The plane he was traveling on went missing 5 july 1942 with all crew missing. 6 bodies were found but not his. Am trying to find out any information about his group to see if anyone can tell me about the accident. He was with the 54th fighter squadron/55th fighter group. But when I looked his squadron up on the USAAF page they say the 54th was in europe, the 343rd fighter squadron was in Alaska. I have his individual deceased personnel file that says he was with the 54th. What is the discrepency? Also there is not a 54th web page, How would I go about locating living members from Alaskian campaign. His plane went missing in 42' but not declared unrecoverable until april 1943. Didn't you say something about a year and a day. They did not wait for him.Would appreciate any info....Dee
