I served with the 395th Regiment from Mov 44 until war's end.
I was in the Second Bn. headquarters company, anti-tank platoon as a 19-20 year- old RFC.Got on on the Bulge, The Remagen Bridge, The Ruhr pocket and all those "good" things..
You refer to the 99th as a Pennsylvania Division.
That may have been its origin but about a third of the division by the Spring of 44 was made up os former ASTPers(see Stephen Ambrose's "Citzen Soldiers". includiong me.
Even the "old-timers" in our battalion seemed to e heavily from Ohio and West Virginia but some from Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kansas, Iowa, really a mixture.
A lot of the original members had been pulled out as "replacements" by 1944.
