HI, He was living in Tampa, Florida when he enlisted at 18 he served untill 1944. He died tho here in Ohio.
I looked at the bombers group. Is there anyplace that would talk about those who were stationed in Europe to work on the bombers. Forgive my ignorance but were the places where they did this under attack at all? Or were they preaty much protected from the actual war. I do know my dad told a couple of aweful situations he incounterd inmaintence via a plane coming back and the gunnerman getting hit. (details are very sad). Supposidly according to an aunt he was in england when it was bombed and was hurt. They even said he was mia but later realized he wasnt.
I guess i was hoping to find out some info on where they were when they were there specifically and i dont know how to get ahold of anyone who might know this> Perhaps im expecting to much.
He did bring back pictures of bombing missions in about three places. You can see the place below that was bombed. My brother said they the mechanics sometimes went up with the pilots is this true would anyone know? thanks for any and all help all have given. Teresa
