I am asking something foolish but-- When pilots, etc in the ETO went "night clubbing" who drove the jeep and what happened to the jeep when it was not in use? That is when the pilot was in the officer's club, etc. and perhaps the jeep was unoccupied or did the driver have to stay with it?
I was told that the jeep used by ground force men was the responsibility of the driver, an enlisted man. And that one jeep was his and he had better take care of it. AND that usually an officer rode in the passenger seat, the driver behind the wheel and the machine gunner in the rear. Three to a jeep. I do not know how it worked when they were using one when not "working". Thank you. Mary
