Good morning, Cindi Dimmitt ! Not much to go on in either of these two postings. Pope Pius XII led his church during WW II, and had to have been the one you refer to. Any GI out of Fort Sill, OK, would have been in the Field Artillery, for that was and is a major artillery training center. Four Infantry Divisions, each of which would have included four artillery battalions, saw action in North Africa, 1st ID, 3rd ID, 9th ID and 34th ID. In addition, there were several (many) non-divisional Field Artillery Battalions on line. Perhaps there is someone, or even letters in the family, which could identify him with one of these units, and we could proceed from there. OK? Louie F. Turner.
