Greetings, David Wiswar !
The 422nd IR and 423rd IR were detached from 106th ID and
attached to 66th ID in the time frame you note,
15 APR 45/15 May 45.
During this period, the 66th ID was assigned to
Fifteenth Army under MG Herman F. Kramer.
The 159th IR was non-divisional, assigned on a where-needed,
Accordingly, it was attached to 106th ID in the time frame,
16 Mar 45/ 6 Jul 54.
During this period, the 106th ID had these assignments:
VI Corps, pre-16 Mar 45 / 28 Mar 45
7th Army, 29 Mar 45 / 26 Apr 45
XXI Corps, 27 Apr 45 / duration.
There is a footnote concerning 3rd IR and 159th IR:
"Attached to division (106th ID) 16 Mar 45 / 9 May 45,
to replpace 422nd IR and 423rd IR".
I hope this helps at least a little.
My copy of Stanton's Order of Battle is all pulled away from its binder, but is still in daily use..
With best regards,
Louie F. Turner.
