The 462nd AAA BN arose from a Coast Atrillery Battalion, in CA.
The unit arrived France-ETO, 11 June 1944 (D-Day, plus 5).
I suspect that the photo you have of him would have been taken in celebration of the war's end, 15 Aug 1945, for the 462nd was positioned at Pilsen, Czerchoslovaka on that date.
As for 24 Dec 44, they would have possibly been in the Bulge engagement, which dated 16 Dec 44 / 24 Jan 45.
A reference states:
24 Dec 44
The town of Bastogne, half destroyed by the attacks of German artillery and aircraft, still holds out."
The 101st Airborne Division was the backbone of the Bulge, however, the 567th AAA BN was its only attachment I can identify for certain.
I will review further to determine exactly what division the 462nd AAA BN was attached on that date. OK ?
I hope that this adds to your profile of the 462nd AAA BN.
