Help with info about WWII Marines in So. Pacific

By Pam Gowens October 12, 2003 at 06:35:21

I like so many of you are looking for info in my dad who served in the Marines in the so pacific 10/42 - 12/45.He, like so many, was extremely disturbed by his experience and wouldn't talk much about it, and drank heavily until his later years.Has since passed away and I am look for any ex-WWII Marines that might willing and able to talk to me.Maybe someone that experiences similar combat could tell me what I am looking to know.I am waiting on NARA for some details of his Division/Battalion, etc.I think he might have been in the 2nd Marines.Trained in San Diego; from there went to New Caledonia, then to Guadacanal, mentioned Russell Islands, mentioned Santa Isabel, New Georgia, Benika?.Thanks,
Pam Gowens
