I think the letters are short for decorations.
CMH - Congressional Medal of Honor
DSC - Distinguished Service Cross
SS - Silver Star
BS - Bronze Star
PH - Purple Heart
DCM - Distinguished Conduct Medal
My first inclination is to say the number probably indicates how many of each were awarded. However, your post says, "Statistics for CO. K total from D Day". A company (infantry, at least) had 200-250 men in it, depending upon whom you include in the company statistics. 492 Purple Hearts would indicate something in the neighborhood of 200+% casualties in one day. That would seem a bit high. Though not impossible, I suppose, if they were in a position to make replacements fast enough.
