It isn't much, but I found the following in Shelby Stanton's "WW II Order of Battle":
787th AAA Automatic Weapons Battalion (Semimobile); Originally activated at Camp Hulen, TX,20 Apr 43 as Separate Coast Artillery BN AA-AW; redesignated 787th AAA from CA, 30 Apr 43; departed NY P/E 11 Aug 44; arrived England, 22 Aug 44;
(UNABLE TO ID HIS SHIP. You may want to check GOOGLE <1944 WW II Troop Ship Crossings> There is information for those dates, but it is not very significant. Look up the guy listed if you can.)
arrived France-ETO, 22 Sep 44.
Rhineland, 15 Sep 44 / 11 May 45 Alsace-Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), 16 Dec 44 / 24 Jan 45.
Location at war's end, 15 Aug 45:
Inactivated in Germany, 27 Jun 46.
There is an association you may want to check out at GOOGLE. Enter , which brings up an extensive menu for your use.
Let me know how you make out. OK ?
There just wasn't much written regarding the Separate Battalions of WW II. I was in one: 985th FA BN, MTO.
