I checked the namesin the roster maintained by the American Burial Memorial Committee at
This identifies those military personnel who either were killed in combat, recovered, then buried overseas, or were lost at sea, and their names memorialized on a plaque in an overseas cemetery, established and maintained by the government.
If JJD died crossing the Channel, I assume that his body was not recovered. If it was, then he was probably returned to the US for burial.
There were several DALYs listed, but not James Joseph.
Is there any other information you can provide...unit identification...place of birth...anything ???
If I had more insight into the man, I could at least possibily give you a military history of his unit.
