Pamela, I haven't had much luck in trying to decipher the inscription. PFC is private first class, and WWII, naturally, is self-explanatory. I can't seem to come up with a guess on the rest of it that would make any sense. I thought CML CO might be Chemical Company, such as "879th Chemical Company". However, I can find no info online about such a unit. Also, it would appear that chemical companies were quartermaster outfits. That would leave us at a loss to explain AIR ORPS. I can't come up with a thing for ORPS. You have indicated directly that it is not CORPS and, even assuming a typo (a typographical error etched in stone?) the US Army Air Corps was the title of that branch before WWII. Prior to WWII its title had been changed to US Army Air Force. I apologize for being of no help, but I wanted to let you know that I had given your request some attention.
