Hello Jerome. I have a little bit of information for you. My dad was in the Philapines at the Guiuan Base in 1945 through about March of 1946. I asked my mother what he did there. She said that most of his work was dealing with dumping everything in the ocean--from watches to jeeps to who knows what else. So he most likely was one of those who threw the coca-cola bottle in there also. I don't understand why such things as the watches, jeeps, and other useful things like that could not have went to the Filopino people, but I guess the service doesn't do things like that. Would rather waste good things than to give it away to those who could use them.
Anyway, I do have a picture of one of the servicemen sitting on a deck chair holding a bottle of coca-cola and another picture of a Filopino woman with coca-cola bottles beside her. If you'd like these pictures for your collection, just send me your snail mail address and I'll send them to you. My e-mail address is s s s t l r @ p l a t e a u t e l. n e t.Just put those together and I should get your message. Just put your name (Jerome) and the words (coca cola) in the subject box so I'll know the e-mail is from you.Sue
