My late grandfather, Joseph B. Bourgeois, Jr, served honorably on the USS New Orleans (CA-32) during World War II. He was aboard when the ship was at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack, and served through at least the end of the war.
I am told he was a cook on ship, and was commonly referred to as Frenchie. I would love to correspond with anyone who knew my grandfather or has any pictures/personal reminiscences they would like to share with me. I am working on my own family tree, and would like to know more about his wartime service, as it was something he never discussed.
