his discharge paper tells me his army serial no. was 37 009 550; arm of service AC; component RA; date of enlistment 26 Sep 41; place of entry into service Camp Roberts Calif; selective service data local S.S. board no. 2, county and state Jackson Mo.Organization (at time of discharge) 237th AAF Base Unit.Separation center was Davis Monthan Fld Tucson Arizona.It also lists his decorations/citations:EAME Ribbon 2/6 bronze stars; Good Conduct Medal; Dist Unit Badge GO 4 WD 43.And Battles and Campaigns: Bismark Archipelago GO 3 WD 45; Guadalcanal GO 33 WD 45; New Guinea GO 40 WD 45; N Solomons GO 33 WD 45; Anti-Submarine GO 33 WD 45; Central Pacific GO 33 WD 45.Military qualification and date says AAF Air Crew Member Badge MM Rifle.It also lists under "prior service" U S Army 3 mos 7 days".
