My father was with the 159th Infantry Regiment from about Jan 1945 until September 9, 1945 when he was transferred to the 100th Inf Div.Among his processions was a worn 106th Inf Div patch.I have been trying to find out where he was and what he did during his time in the ETO.Ihad some one from St. Louis look up Morning Reports at the records center, NARA, hoping those reports would reveal information about his promotion and transfers. They did, but there was not much on the 159th.The only one I have is from September 9, 1945 and the Hq & Hq Co 3rd Bn 159th Inf Reg was at Bruchsal, Germany on that date. I wrote an email to the California State Military Museum hoping that they would have some detailed information on the 159th.When I’ve done a search of the 159th on the web there is little info. The 159th was at Camp Swift, Texas prior to leaving from New York to La Harve, France. The regiment departed March 7 and arrived in France on March 18, 1945.
What campaign credit is listed on your father’s WD AGO Form 53-55 (report of separation). What decoration and citation?
Here’s the email I sent to the firstname.lastname@example.org CA State Military Museum.Maybe
