Hi Louis, After going through many more papers I am starting toget the picture. On the papers it says, Italian Campaign; Sicilian Campaign. And under medals it says Good Conduct Medal and Entitled to EAME Campaign Ribbon. On others, they say after arriving in Africa his unit trained for a few weeks before invading Sicily in July, 43. On medical papers, they say Received Concussion from shelling blast at Venefro Nov 15,43 was unconcious until next morning at the 38th Evac.Hosp. stayed 2 weeks, transferred to the 106 st. Hosp. for another 2 weeks. And then the 3rd Command Hosp. for a month. Went back to duty in Italy Jan,44 Anzio for a month or so as a interpreter, scouting and getting information from Italians. Then was sent with a causulty unit back to Africa where he waited 3 months until sent back to the states. Received a 21 day furlough. Was transfered to the the Prisinor of War Section, 1325th Unit. For a month was a PW guard. Then he stated, he hated that job of guarding the same men who killed many of his buddies and sniped at him in combat. Was in and out of hospital, for anxity, vomiting, nausea due to battle combat, for the next couple of months, And then discharged in Dec 44. And on top of this he was just married when he went in and had a child a year later.
I guess I just want toknow if anyone knew him or his unit, or what the actual battles were like with more detail.
