Your dad's unit, 28th Coast Artillery, was activated at Camp Pendelton, VA, 6 Feb 42, and inactivated at Camp Hood,TX, 15 Apr 44. (Camp Hood is about 200 miles above San Antonio.) Or at C. Pendelton, VA,17 Mar42, and inactivated at Ascension Island, 5 Oct 44. (We are addressing four separate batteries, which split off 2 by 2, as above.) There were no combat experiences recorded for either. HOWEVER, when there was no longer a need for CA Defence, the personnel for the most part were assigned to Field Artillery units, which more than likely, ended up overseas. Sorry that I can't tell you more. Feel free to get back to me as needed. OK? Louie F. Turner. I'll bet that you can find the streets on GOOGLE, probably at Killeen, TX, home of now Fort Hood.
