FYI, the CA became obsolete during the latter phase of
WW II, resulting in dissolution of most existing units.
Personnel was transferred to other elements, many going to field artillery and anti-aircraft units.
I can envision that your dad was probably reassigned to an armored unit in that time frame (early-44).
I was a member of the cadre at the Field Artillery Training Center at Fort Sill, OK, then, and recall that we absorbed a number of men from the CA who had been stationed in Bermuda.
They were trained on the 155mm howitzer during regular training excercises, then routed out to other units where/as needed.
