Please forgive me for butting in on this thread, but I would like to point out something which may be helpful. I am not an expert, but I do know that Form 214 (also refered to as DD-214) is a report of separation. However, that form was not used until after WWII, so it would not be helpful to you, Christi, to request such.
There is a gentleman who has posted here from time to time, and who is, by all indications, well-informed about research. In this forum he suggested that, "When you submit the SF-180 request "all available records". The quality and extent of information you receive will depend largely on the experience and motivation of the researcher assigned to handle your inquiry."
