Jack - I know exactly what you mean. Ed Miller whose interview I will be watching wrote about the Hurtgen Forest Battle and his book has been called by some reviewers as the best account. I was disappointed because there was no mention at all of the 893rd. However there was more than one division involved and a number of tanks and tank destroyers so I think Ed had to choose which units he thought showed the progress of the battle and though the horrible struggle of the 893rd which has been well documented through National Arcive records was not such. After all a TD Bn has only about 660 men and thousands were involved in that battle.
You know WW2 was so huge that the whole story and the story of each person who was involved can never be told. Just one woman's opinion. Mary
