Howard Williamson enlisted at Ft Benjamin Harrison in Indiana on JUNE 17 1942 ARMY.
He was shot and wounded in ANZIO ITALY while unloading railroad boxcars for the RED CROSS , the rail cars clearly marked with the Red Cross emblem were shot into when the soldiers were inside.
His official discharge came SEPT 1945.
His hometown was Evansville IN he was born August 1910 and died June 1975.
He recieved the purple heart but it has since been lost and we are attempting to get a replacement .
I do not know what unit he was attached to or a company/battery ect .
