My grandfather 16944 James Tweedie enlisted in the RM at manchester on 7/7/1913 age 18yrs 3 months 20 days and was discharged at Gosport on 28 April 1919 as medically unfit. he was captured at the Defence of Arnham and sent to Doberitz POW camp where he saw out the war. (from his army pay book and postcards from the camp. His brother was killed Johh is commemorated at Ypres.
in 1922 he reenlisted in the KOLI and saw service in Rawal Pindi 1/125 - 30/10/25, before being invalided outunder para 363(xvi)(a) kings regs 1923.
He then served in the docks police at portsmouth in WW11
If anyone can add anything to this, and in particular why John was killed and Jum captured 2 days after records say there group was 'repatriated' bak to ENgland, or add anything about the POW camp and its whereabouts my mum would love to know
