If you look at other posts here & on other geneology query sites you will find that almost no one get a "hit" on info about a man just by posting a name.
The best way to get the info is to send for NARA records.Sometimes, paid subscription services like Ancestry.com (which I have) have references to men & their service (i.e. draft registration info, wounded in action, burial in military cemetery, reference to obits, etc.)In order to find someone on Ancesty.com you need DOB/DOD, etc.Info is sorted by name. One uses DOB/DOD, locations, to identify person when more than one person has same name or to at least eliminate some from search.(Names can be listed several ways, thus there are many choices:John Smith, John Wm. Smith, John W. Smith, J. William Smith, etc.).
General rule of thumb for a query:the better the info provided, the better the chances of finding what you want. For personal & very legitimate reasons some people don't want/like to post "private" info; obviously the choice is yours.I am by no means an expert, just offering my opinion.
