Thank you for the link to the Yank article. I noticed it was published nearly a year after Maupin's plane went down (he went down in Jan. 1944). I found the article very interesting though, and I will keep it in my files. About a month before Maupin went MIA, he parachuted out of his plane (not all the crew did, and the plane landed safely. Maupin was returned to his crew 2 weeks later by Chinese guerillas). This article gave me some insight on what that mission must have been like. The Siebert name has me confused -- not sure if the same guy. I'll have to look into it further. Also the name China Clipper. Maybe several planes used that name?
