In May 2007, a week before Memorial Day I adopted the grave of Barney Gordon (who is buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery in the town of Margraten, The Netherlands). I've been trying to find Barney's family, but no luck so far.
This is what I know of Barney Gordon and his family:
Barney was born September 15, 1912 in Wayne County, Mississippi. His parents were John J. Gordon and Margaret L. Pope. They got married on April 5, 1899 and had five boys, Truman, George, Barney, Henry and Murdock. John J. Gordon was a farmer and worked for General Farm. The old address of the Gordon family was Beat 1, Chicora, Wayne County, MS.
It seems that Barney at some point moved to Clewiston, Florida. He lived there together with his wife Beatrice and their son Gerald in the home of an aunt and uncle (the Lowe family). I'm not sure if it was his aunt and uncle or his wife's.
When Barney died, on April 3, 1945 his wife and son were still living in Clewiston. I don't know how long after his death they stayed in Clewiston and if they even stayed in Florida. Maybe they returned to Mississippi.
Barney and Beatrice's son Gerald was 4 years old at the time of Barney's death. So he must be born in 1940 or 1941. It would be great if I could find him. But getting in touch with other members of the Gordon family would be very nice too.
So if there is anybody out there who can help me with this search....I would love to hear from you !!!
