Most welcome.I found this little bit of info in the site below it.I couldn't find a name associated with this British man.But Mr. Rose was apparently not elderly...correct?
Army Ranger Prince, who made the final check of the camp to ensure all prisoners were rescued — missing an elderly British POW in a latrine who was found later that night by Filipino guerrillas — was the last man out.
Also...was Mr. Rose deaf?I found mention of a deaf man being the last man out. See below.
Barnes & Noble.com - Books: Ghost Soldiers, by Hampton Sides ...This book covers everything from Japanese frame of mind about war to the last prisoner at Cabanatuan, a deaf British man who didn't hear the prison break ... search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?z=y&isbn=0385495641 - 79k -
And this may be a TOTAL LONG SHOT...but I believe the "Army Ranger Prince" that is mentioned above now lives in a town close to me.You might want to write to this man who I believe is his son and see if he can help you with information about Mr. Rose.See this article.
