Does anyone have information on where the 38 Repl. Bn or 38 Repl. Depot was located in 1944 in the European theater? My Dad, 1st Lt. Ray E. Lowry joined Co. K, 317th Regiment, 80th Division, in mid-Sept. 1944 just in time for the Pont a' Mousson action across the Moselle River. He was wounded in that battle on Sept. 22, evacuated to the 110th Evac. Hospital, and then I can't seem to find him back with the 317th, although his campaign ribbons/battles, etc. reflect those that the 317th took part in including Ardennes and Rhineland. Also, on his papers, with the Purple Heart he was awarded, it said, GO 38, HQ ETOUSA, 1944 and another citation said GO 163, HQ 80 Div. 1944. Can anyone decipher the Army speak for me? Thanks a bunch!
