I am researching my father's cousin, Frederick McNeeland. Family oral history (we all know how reliable that is) says that he was in the Flying Tigers and was shot down in China and awoke in a field with villagers holding pitchforks to him.
My first source for military records is usually ancestry.com, but I can not find him on there. I did find him listed on a website as being the crew of the Hot as Hell B-24 42-40075. From what I understand this is a different plane from the Hot as Hell which has recently had its remains discovered, though some of the crew members were the same.
I am hoping to be able to find out about any missions he was on and if HIS plane was in fact ever downed or not.
