Thanks for your prompt response. I was pleased to learn that your grand father survived the war in the Pacific, and that he is alive and well.
You mention that he shipped out in June-43 to Sydney, Australia. My list only includes one Sydney sailing, which was of the USS WEST POINT, which left San Francisco,CA, 9-25-43, arriving Sydney 10-10-43, carrying 7,979 troops.
This was confirmed by a crewman named W. McLain.
The list lacks many sailings and is updated about every other year. Since this was the only move referring to Sydney, I thought I should include it in my remarks.
There are no sailings from Sydney to the Philippines mentioned, so I am unable to tie down that element of his travels either.
Too bad, for I have managed to identify ships moving in both directions on several occasions.
When did he sail out of the Pacific and arrive stateside ?
As for Mr. Cooper, I would tie his name to your initial quiry, hoping that someone could come up with his history.
Finally, you are most welcome. It gives me great pleasure to be of service in this situation.
