My late father-in-law commanded I Company of the 302d.Do you know what company your grandfather served in?
A quick look in Ancestry.com shows the following information.
Enlistment record for Edgar C. Emeigh says that he enlisted on 4 August 1944 in DC.
He is indeed buried in the American Cemetery in Luxembourg, which, coincidentally, is where GEN Patton rests. He was KIA on 2 March 1945.
The 1920 Census of DC shows Edgar C. Emeigh aged 34 with his wife Marie aged 26 and a son (whose name I can't read) aged 3 years and 11 months.
The 1930 Census of DC shows Edgar C aged 44, wife Marie 35, son Edgar 14, daughter Helen 5, and Marie's parents Clarence and Bessie Bush.
