I have tried to contact the 27th Infantry Division Assoc. at the address on Lincoln Ave in Troy, NY, but the mail has been returned undeliverable. Have also contacted several websites that have information on the 27th, but no one seems to know how to contact the 27th Infantry Assoc. I am desperately searching for those who may have served in the 27th, particularly the 105 Feild Artillery Battalion that served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre on the islands of Okinawa, Saipan, Makin, Gilberts, Marianas, etc. (Central Pacific, Eastern Solomons, Ryukyus) and trained in Hawaii.
I have an old letter, dated 22 February 1945 that lists the Headquarters of the 27th Infantry Division, Office of the Division Commander, at the follwoing address: APO #27, c/o postmaster, San Francisco, CA and is signed by Geo. W. Griner, Major Genral, US Army Commanding. it came in a leaflet with a map of the islands of Saipan, Eniwetok, Majuro, and Makin. Was wondering if there is any chance at all that I may still be able to contact that division at that address after 55 years??
If not, I would greatly appreciate any info that anyone may have on how I can contact the 27th or anyone who served in that area of battle described above. I have lots of information on the battles, but need to find the people. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Krissy R Carlson, Proud granddaughter of Cpl. Vern W Bay, anti-aircraft machine gunner and rifle marksman, 105 feild artillery battalion, 27th infantry division.
