Hello, My Dads records were destroyed in the fire in St.Louis. I have a copy of his Record of Separation and was wondering how accurate they were. It says he was awarded the Phillipine Liberation Medal which would have placed him in the Phillipines. His last duty unit was the 284th Ordnance Co.which would have placed him in Okinawa. I was always told he served in both campaigns but the separation paper lists only one campaign star and an arrowhead for the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. Were these documents accurate? He arrived in the Pacific CPTO on 16 May 43 and departed 6 Nov 45. It appears he should have had at least two campaign stars. Any history on the 284th ? I would like to be as accurate as possible in compiling his awards for the family. Thank you.
