Hello,If the information below is your boyfriend's father, you could try to obtain his military records from the NPRC.Google Standard Form 180 and complete as much information on the form as you can before sending it in.
Also, check with the County Clerk or State Archives where he was discharged from the service to see if they have his full enlistment and discharge information.Those documents may get you unit information.
If he had a military burial, check with the Sexton of the Cemetery where he is buried as they may have some military information.Also, if he was a member of the VFW try contacting them as well.Hope some of this helps.
With the enlistment date below, he may have re-uped after the war as the war was over by August 1945.
