I have located a shipping record of interest to you in that it relates to the sailing of the USS GENERAL GEORGE M. RANDALL (AP-115).
On 19 Dec 44, the ship departed Los Angeles P/E, bearing the 596th Air Engineering Squadron, 380th Air Service Group.
It arrived Hobart, Tasmania on 2 Jan 45, enroute to Bombay, India.
(I just noted that this was attested to by J. Baker. Same as Jim ?)
I don't have the record relating to the ultimate movement to Bombay.
I don't see the record for the GENERAL WM. MITCHELL sailing.
The reference to the MITCHELL came from the 1944 WW II Troop Ship Crossings list.
I have a couple of excellent reference books which I will check out for any available
information pertaining to the 380thASG and the 3981st ASG.
More later. OK ?
