A couple of other options.When/if you get his obit, and he had a military funeral, contact the Sexton of the Cemetery and/or the funeral home that handled the burial. They may have some military records that will tell what unit(s) he was assigned to.Also, if he was a member of a VFW, they may have some records. Also try the VA if he was receiving benefits.Did he pass away in North Carolina? If so, try contacting one of these people from the Edgecomb County Public Library.Select one that might be close to what you are looking for.And...it is highly doubtful that he settled in North Carolina after the war but I don't know what information you have to that affect. So a thought is that his paper work may be with the Edgecombe County Clerk. And your other option is to try for a death certificate which will tell you where he is buried I believe.Good Luck!!!!
