I request WWII files daily in the research room at the Records Center here in St. Louis. I will request the file for you and check the morning reports for his name when he was wounded.( I'm the Asst. Historian for the 90th Infantry Division Association).
I would not recommend spending $60.00 for a file when you don't know what's in it. Sounds like it could be a "B" file, meaning it survived the fire but with damage. Please feel free to contact me directly if you wish.
