The 38th Division - later redesignated 38th Infantry Division - was headquartered in Indiana and composed of elements of the Indiana, Kentucky & West Virginia National Guard. The division was inducted into Federal service in January 1941 under the Selective Service Act of 1940 to serve one year. Camp Shelby was a division training facility and the 38th was the first division to train there. When the army triangularized its infantry divisions in early 1942, many members of the 38th were released from active duty and/or transferred to other units. It's a nice gesture but you probably won't receive a lot of inquiries.
