He enlisted October 9, 1945 so if the birth date of Mario is 1945 than all the below information which I think is this Curtis, I found is NOT the correct one. With basic training he would not be assigned to a foreign base before the end of December 1945.
If Mario was born in late 1946 then this MAYBE the correct service man. Here is what else I found. I make no guarantees this is the the same man that fathered Mario. He is just the closest I find with information provided.

There is a Curtis Mattox that married in 1942 in Hillsborough County FL and divorced in 1947 in same county. (Wife Maggie could have divorced him and he didn't have to be back in FL yet)
In the 1930 Florida census for town of Lake City, Columbia County is a Curtis Mattox age 14 race African American with a sister Minnie L. Mattox age 12 both are listed as step children of head of household Amon Holland and Lovey Holland. All born in Florida and living on Washington Street. The step father lists he is a proprietor of a Grocery store.
In the 1920 Florida census for Ocala, Marion County the family is listed as Maddox with Head of household Curtis age 40, wife Lovey age 33 and with 6 children including Curtis age 5, all born in FL.
