We had contacted the Army to get a copy of his military records. We were told that there had been a large fire a number of years ago and that most of his records had been lost. We were told that we could contact NARA to see what they could pull together. The only thing we recieved back was his final payment worksheet. It says that he "enlisted or inducted at APO 716 Japan" and that his "previous organization or place was 9201 TSU-TC O.R.D". We are also trying to pin down when he entered the service. One document says his enlistment was "OCT 31 1945", while this form states that this was a 2 year enlistment that ended Dec 31 1946. The dates don't match up well and we're trying to make sense of it all
My wife's grandfather was not the type to talk about the work he did in WWII and we've been trying to put together what he did. And there have been some questions based on what he told a nephew many year ago.
Any idea what kind of job they did in the TSU? Do you know what the O.R.D means?
